Hudson Home
Calico Wallpaper’s Aurora in Petal is featured in one bedroom (4th image), Flora in Wildflower in the master bedroom (3rd & 8th images), and the Aurora in Ray in another bedroom (7th image).
The view of the Hudson River and the meadows and woodlands around the home serves as inspiration for colors and materials for much of the home. The interiors are meant to reflect the material-rich handicraft of upstate and quiet refinement of Danish detail.
- Core to the project was creating an environment supportive of two children and a growing family. Key was showcasing furniture, art, and objects of a growing family rooted in art and design. The decision to open the space created an intimate expanse – large, uninterrupted space with quiet pauses of engagement. Opening up the space also served to frame the view of the valley below and blur the boundaries between inside and out.
- In the case of the wallpaper, direct references from nature were expressed on the walls – a pink sunset, boulders, meadow grasses, insects, and a green wetland algae.
- The wallpaper serves as a fitting anchor to several rooms and beautiful canvas to build around. Neither too loud or too subtle, the wallpaper blends well with the architecture and furniture of the space and helped greatly in achieving our aims conceptually. – Office of Tangible Space, Michael Yarinky
