Audemars Piguet Collector’s Lounge at Art Basel 2019

Throughout the lounge, Brooklyn-based artist Fernando Mastrangelo worked with Calico Wallpaper to create the site-specific bespoke wallpaper composed of gradient tones and textures. Titled The Vallée, the immersive space is commissioned and presented by the Swiss Haute Horlogerie manufacturer Audemars Piguet and intends to transport visitors to the company’s home for nearly 150-years in the Swiss Jura Mountains.

As Fernando Mastrangelo explains: “I wanted to consider time not only in a linear sense, the passage of time, but also in a geological sense by drawing a parallel between the time it took for the land in the Vallée de Joux to be formed with the time it takes to create an Audemars Piguet watch.”
