Kips Bay Showhouse

One of the key events in the New York design calendar, the Kips Bay Show House is an annual fundraiser for the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club, raising critical funds for much needed after school and enrichment programs for New York City children. Each year, celebrated interior designers transform a Manhattan home into an elegant exhibition of fine furnishings, art and technology.

Calico Wallpaper was thrilled to be included in their 42nd annual Show House, which took place in an iconic mansion on Madison Avenue—an 1884 property designed by McKim, Mead & White. Working with the top tier design firm Carrier and Company, Calico Wallpaper designed a Wabi in Cloud print for the drawing room. Tailoring the layout to fit within the original frame and panel trim, the print was installed in 36 discrete concurrent sections, creating a continuous flowing pattern that travelled around the room.

Described by the New York Times as “Harvard Medical School, the Pulitzer Prize, the Baseball Hall of Fame and the New York State Lottery rolled into one” Kips Bay Show House is a must-see event for thousands of design enthusiasts and is renowned for sparking interior design trends throughout the world. The Show House receives as many as 15,000 guests annually from across the nation and has raised over $18,000,000 for the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, which currently reaches over 10,000 young people at ten locations throughout the Bronx. Today, the club is proudly one of the most prominent and responsive youth development agencies in New York City and a “flagship” of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.
